Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the most common questions from our customers

A CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) machine is a medical device that delivers constant pressurized air through a mask worn during sleep. It keeps your airway open and prevents it from collapsing, treating obstructive sleep apnea. The system consists of three main parts: the machine that generates airflow, the tubing that carries the air, and the mask that delivers air to your nose or nose and mouth. CPAP is the gold-standard first-line treatment for obstructive sleep apnea worldwide.

The machine draws room air through a filter, pressurizes it to a prescribed level, and delivers it via the tubing to your mask. This continuous positive pressure acts as a pneumatic splint that prevents the throat tissues from relaxing and collapsing during sleep. Auto CPAP machines monitor your breathing and automatically adjust pressure — increasing it when obstruction is detected and reducing it when breathing is normal, delivering the minimum effective pressure throughout the night.

CPAP (fixed) delivers a constant pressure all night at the level prescribed by your doctor. APAP (auto-adjusting) automatically adjusts pressure based on your moment-to-moment needs. Auto machines are more comfortable because they do not deliver more pressure than necessary. Most modern machines operate in APAP mode and are marketed as "CPAP" since they perform the same function with added flexibility. Our machine operates in auto-adjusting mode.

It is strongly recommended to have a sleep study first to diagnose your condition and determine the appropriate pressure settings. You can get tested at the Kuwait Sleep Medicine Center (government), Kuwait Hospital (AASM-accredited private), or Zain Hospital Sleep Lab. After diagnosis, we help you configure the machine per your doctor's recommendations. If you have a prior diagnosis from any country, we can assist you directly.

Yes, CPAP is one of the safest and most effective treatments for sleep apnea. Minor side effects like nasal dryness or mask marks are common but easily manageable — a humidifier addresses dryness and proper mask fitting prevents marks. The health risks of untreated sleep apnea (hypertension, heart disease, stroke, excessive daytime sleepiness) are far more serious than any minor therapy side effects.
